Compatibility
The keyboard connects by cable to a USB-A port on a desktop or a laptop and is detected as an ordinary USB input device: the knob, the media keys and the lighting switch all work without installing anything. AULA's own utility for macros and lighting targets Windows, and the "F2028 RGB Manual" is published in the Downloads section of aulastar.com. Laptops with USB-C ports only will need an adapter.

AULA F2028: description and configuration

AULA F2028 — keyboard.

The AULA F2028 is a wired keyboard from the WIND line that the maker calls a multimedia membrane board: a full key set with a number pad plus a control cluster in the top right corner. That cluster holds three media keys and a large metal knob — usually the very reason people pick a board like this.

The knob runs in two modes. In game mode (the default) turning it changes the backlight brightness and a short press cycles the effects — steady, breathing, heartbeat. In multimedia mode turning it controls system volume and a press mutes instantly. Switching between the modes is a long press on the knob itself, with no software and without leaving the game.

The case is built on a sandblasted metal panel, the ABS keycaps float above the plate and the rows are stepped in height, so your fingers find the right row without looking. The lighting is RGB, simultaneous presses are resolved without conflicts across 26 keys, and the USB plug is nickel-plated. AULA states that macros and lighting can be configured through its own software, while the basic functions work the moment the board is plugged in. The case measures 440 × 135 × 35 mm and weighs 713 g.

One knob, two modes

The large metal knob in the top right corner replaces several hotkeys at once. In game mode, which is on by default, turning it raises or lowers the backlight brightness smoothly, and a short press steps through the effects — steady, breathing and heartbeat. A long press moves the knob into multimedia mode: now turning it changes system volume and pressing it mutes everything. Three separate keys sit next to it — previous track, play/pause and next.

A metal panel with floating keys

The top of the case is sandblasted metal: a matte surface that does not slip under the palm and does not flex under hard presses. The ABS keycaps float above the plate, so light escapes around every key and dust or crumbs wipe off the open base in one pass. The caps are double-injection moulded, so the legends do not wear away with the paint.

Stepped rows under your fingers

The key rows are set at different heights: lower at the bottom, higher at the top. That stepped profile helps you find the right row blind and reduces hand fatigue in long sessions — the fingers do not have to reach up from a flat plane. The full-size layout with a number pad still stays familiar, so there is nothing to relearn.

26 keys and software setup

Simultaneous presses are resolved without conflicts across 26 keys — enough for movement, modifiers and quick slots together. The USB plug is nickel-plated and the maker specifically mentions interference protection. For anyone who wants more than keyboard shortcuts, AULA offers its own software: macros, colour effects, lighting speed and brightness are set there and stored in a profile.
