MOZA 70mm Quick Release Adapter.
The 70mm Quick Release Adapter is MOZA's quick-release coupling between the base and the wheel. The point of it is simple: pull one wheel off and fit another in seconds, with no tools and no disassembly. For a cockpit with several rims it is essential kit — a formula rim for open-wheel racing, a round one for GT and drifting, a truck wheel for long-haul sims, all swapped over the course of an evening. The same design helps when the cockpit lives in a living room: take the wheel off and the desk behind the base is usable again.
The mechanism follows the principle used in real race cars: a quick-release coupling with a locking collar, housed in aviation-grade aluminium alloy. Spring-loaded contacts sit on the wheel-side face, carrying power and data to the rim — which is why a MOZA wheel keeps its buttons and paddles working. The 70 mm pattern is a widely used motorsport standard for mounting a rim, and it is what opens the door to third-party wheels and genuine automotive rims.
One limitation matters, and MOZA states it plainly: with third-party wheels only the steering function is supported. Rotation gets through, but the buttons, encoders and paddles on such a rim do not work via the adapter — they need their own controller, if one exists. The adapter is compatible with all MOZA bases. MOZA does not spell out the exact box contents, so confirm what ships with a GEEKSHOP manager when you order. The package measures 15 × 15 × 8 cm and weighs 0.6 kg.
One cockpit, several wheels
A formula rim is right for open-wheel cars and gets in the way when you drift; a round wheel feels natural in GT and awkward in a single-seater. A quick release removes the compromise: the rim swaps in seconds, between sessions, with no tools and no stripping the column. If two or three wheels live in your cockpit, this part stops being an accessory and becomes part of the daily routine.

A principle borrowed from real motorsport
In a race car a quick release exists not for convenience but for the seconds it saves when the driver gets out, and the design there is as simple and reliable as it gets: a coupling with a locking collar. MOZA follows the same principle and wraps it in an aviation-grade aluminium alloy housing. The metal earns its place: this joint takes the base's full torque, and plastic does not last long in that position.

The contacts that keep a wheel alive
Spring-loaded contacts sit on the adapter's wheel-side face, carrying power and data to the rim. That is why nothing is lost with MOZA wheels after a quick swap — buttons, encoders, paddles and lighting keep working with no separate cable. The joint stays electrical as well as mechanical, and that is the key difference from a plain mechanical spacer.

70 mm, and what it opens up
Seventy millimetres is a common motorsport pattern for mounting a rim, the same one used by makers of real racing wheels. For a sim racer that means choice beyond a single brand's catalogue: a third-party rim or a suitable automotive wheel can go on a MOZA base. Check the exact mounting dimensions of your model before buying — "70 mm" in a rim's description does not always mean an identical implementation.

What specifically will not work
MOZA states the limitation plainly: with third-party wheels the adapter supports the steering function only. Rotation comes through in full, but that rim's buttons, encoders and paddles stay disconnected from the base — they need their own controller. If you are planning a full button panel on a third-party wheel, work that scenario out before you buy.
