Compatibility
Works with USB-C iPhone models, Android phones that support USB-C/OTG, and laptops and tablets with USB-C. The M.2 NVMe drive is bought separately: 2230, 2242 and 2280 boards with a B&M key up to 8 TB fit, but double-sided or unusually thick SSDs and models with non-removable heatsinks may not. The Lite draws at least 5 W, so when working from a phone with no outlet it is better to feed power into the PD-in port; if the hub is mainly for a phone, look at the Ultra version with its 1.5 W draw.

SHARGE Disk Pro 2 Lite: description and configuration

SHARGE Disk Pro 2 Lite.

The SHARGE Disk Pro 2 Lite is the base version of the Disk Pro 2 hub: the same playing-card-sized body (92.6 × 59.2 × 13.5 mm, about 72 g), the same magnetic mount on the back of a phone and the same bay for an M.2 NVMe drive. It suits people who want ports and a fast disk while travelling but do not need 8K or the fastest card reader.

You fit your own M.2 NVMe drive in 2230, 2242 or 2280 with a B&M key, up to 8 TB. A single Torx screw holds the shell, the screwdriver and screws are included, and a swap takes about thirty seconds. The USB 3.2 Gen 2 interface runs at up to 10 Gbps — roughly 1,050 MB/s — and a fan spinning up to 12,000 RPM with AUTO, TURBO and OFF modes keeps speed from dropping during a long offload.

The Lite has the same six ports: two USB-C (a host port with up to 80 W PD out and a 10 Gbps data port with up to 100 W PD in), USB-A 3.0, HDMI, plus SD 3.0 and microSD 3.0 slots. There are exactly three differences from the Ultra: HDMI 2.0 outputs 4K at 60 Hz instead of 4K at 144 Hz and 8K at 30 Hz, cards read at up to 100 MB/s and write at up to 90 MB/s, and minimum power draw is 5 W instead of 1.5 W — so when working from a phone with no outlet it is better to feed power into the PD-in port. The drive is not included; double-sided or unusually thick SSDs and modules with non-removable heatsinks may not fit.

The base version, without paying for extras

The Lite is the same Disk Pro 2: a 92.6 × 59.2 × 13.5 mm body at about 72 g, magnetic mounting, six ports, a fan and a bay for your own SSD. Only three specs differ — HDMI, card reader speed and minimum power draw.

If you plug the hub into a laptop, send a picture to a 60 Hz monitor or TV and move moderate batches of photos off cards, the Lite covers the job completely.

Lite or Ultra: which to pick

The Lite outputs 4K at 60 Hz over HDMI 2.0, reads cards at up to 100 MB/s and writes at up to 90 MB/s, with a 5 W minimum draw. The Ultra adds HDMI 2.1 with 4K at 144 Hz and 8K at 30 Hz, a 180/120 MB/s card reader and a 1.5 W draw.

A practical rule: for a laptop and a 60 Hz monitor take the Lite; for a high-refresh gaming monitor, an 8K TV or constant phone-powered use, take the Ultra.

Your drive, your capacity

The Disk Pro 2 Lite ships empty: you fit your own 1, 2, 4 or 8 TB M.2 NVMe and pay for memory separately. Boards in 2230, 2242 and 2280 with a B&M key are supported.

One Torx screw holds the shell — open the cover, drop the board in, tighten the screw. The screwdriver and spare screws are already in the box. Double-sided or unusually thick SSDs, and modules with non-removable heatsinks, may not fit, so check before buying a drive.

A fan instead of throttling

Compact NVMe enclosures usually heat up and throttle on large files. This one has a fan running at up to 12,000 RPM with three modes: AUTO adjusts itself, TURBO holds maximum airflow through a long offload and OFF removes the noise.

According to SHARGE the enclosure kept the drive below 45 °C, and a thermal test after 15 minutes of sustained read/write peaked at 35.1 °C.

Six ports in a pocket

Two USB-C ports, USB-A 3.0, HDMI, SD and microSD cover the usual jobs: attach a mouse or flash drive, pull footage off a camera card, send a picture to a monitor, feed in power. The host port delivers up to 80 W and the data port accepts up to 100 W over Power Delivery, so a laptop can be powered through the same hub.

The body weighs about 72 g and clings magnetically to a phone, and the detachable USB-C lanyard cable is not soldered in, so it is easy to replace.

SHARGE Disk Pro 2 speed: 10 Gbps, 100 photos in about 5.5 seconds, 70 GB in about 76 seconds
